Eugene Mirman, who is best known as the voice of middle child Gene Belcher on Fox’s long-running animated show Bob’s Burgers, has reportedly been hospitalized with serious injuries after a car crash in Bedford, New Hampshire, on Tuesday, March 31.

According to authorities on the scene, the actor was trapped inside his 2026 Lucid Gravity after his car crashed into the Bedford Toll Plaza on the Everett Turnpike. The impact caused the electric vehicle to catch fire, leaving the actor stuck inside and requiring assistance to be pulled from the burning vehicle.

In the report, it is stated that state troopers, along with New Hampshire Gov. Kelley Ayotte’s security detail and several witnesses, helped pull Murman out through the car’s window and to safety at the scene. He was then taken to a nearby area hospital for treatment.

A social post by New Hampshire State Police recounted the events: “While units were responding, a veteran State Trooper assigned to Governor Kelly Ayotte’s security detail came upon the crash, saw that the vehicle was actively on fire, and observed the driver was still inside. The driver was then pulled from the burning car through a window and brought to safety. Governor Ayotte, along with other witnesses at the scene, provided assistance to the Trooper.”

“Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did,” said Colonel Mark B. Hall in a statement on social media. “Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.”

No charges have been filed at this time; however, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation.

Aside from voicing Gene Belcher on Bob’s Burgers, Eugene Mirman is a widely recognized stand-up comedian, actor, and writer known for his roles on Flight of the Conchords, Archer, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force
