If you want more David Bromstad on your TV screens, you’re in luck. HGTV is giving viewers an early holiday season present when it premieres a new special My Lottery Dream Home: David’s Happy Ending. The hour-long show, premiering December 19, follows the fun-loving designer as he begins a fairytale-inspired renovation of his new home. Plans included updating the kitchen and adding an extension with a main bedroom, walk-in closet and theater. 

It was described as a four-year journey after storms caused the house to flood. Bromstad decided to demo the entire house to studs and eradicate mold. He took a mental and physical health break and paused the project for a year, which took him to Norway. It’s there he was inspired by the architecture in his ancestral homeland and pivots in terms to a more personal design. The Minnesota born 51-year-old pulled from what represents his new chapter in life. 

“I’ve spent 18 seasons of My Lottery Dream Home making my winners happy. Now it’s my turn,” Bromstad declares in a sneak peek for the special, shared exclusively first with TV Insider above. After 250 days he finally could see his dream become a reality. Too bad Mother Nature had other plans. The clip really displayed all the damage caused by the rain water. in various places around the residence “There is madness happening everywhere,” he said. Can his nightmare turn into the fairytale he’d envisioned? We’ll have to watch and find out. Although we know there will be lots of pink and red involved. 

The Design Star winner has become one of the most popular personalities on the network. He found a winning formula that has gone on for two decades with My Lottery Dream Home. The tentpole series where he ventures coast-to-coast to help his clients acquire fantasy homes after their cash windfall. Bromstad goes above and beyond to make dreams a reality. He logs some serious frequent flier miles, traveling all over to meet people from all walks of life and help them bring the wow factor to each property tackled. Season 18 has seen the colorful personality hit up Florida, Las Vegas, Arizona, and New Jersey.
