Savannah Guthrie & Al Roker Hang Out During Time off From ‘Today’

The Today hosts are friends both on and off the small screen.
Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker enjoyed a hangout with their respective spouses while taking some time off from the NBC morning show this week. “Summer fun! New York state of mind!
#summer,” Roker’s wife, Deborah Roberts, captioned a Monday, August 4, Instagram snap of herself, Roker, Guthrie, and Guthrie’s husband, Michael Feldman, posing for a group photos on a New York City rooftop.
One fan called the pair of spouses “couple goals” in the post’s comments, while another user wrote, “This photo is absolutely awesome. What a beautiful background ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉.”
Guthrie and Roker were missing from Today on Monday and Tuesday, August 5. Laura Jarrett stepped into Guthrie’s role as Craig Melvin‘s coanchor, while Dylan Dreyer served double duty filling in for Roker and Carson Daly, who was also absent.
While Guthrie was simply enjoying some time off with her family, Roker will travel to Florida for a special assignment on the show’s Wednesday, August 6, episode. “He’s gonna join us live from Miami tomorrow here on Today,” Melvin explained to viewers on Tuesday.

Today fans are used to the hosts taking more time off from the show during the summer than in other months. Recently, Melvin returned to Studio 1A on July 28 after taking a week-long hiatus for a family vacation in South Carolina.
“The annual Melvin family getaway to SC. Making memories #family,” Melvin captioned a July 27 Instagram slideshow of vacation snaps, including family photos on the beach and pics from family dinners.
Roker, meanwhile, missed Today‘s Thursday, July 31, in order to attend Sheryl Lee Ralph and her husband Vincent Hughes’ vow renewal ceremony. The Abbott Elementary star said “I do” again on the famous steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
“Well, good morning everybody from the City of Brotherly Love,” he began a Thursday Instagram video of himself running past the museum’s iconic Rocky steps. “Just having a great old time. We’re here ’cause a friend renewed their wedding vowels — vowels, haha — their wedding vows, and we spent the night.”
At the time, he confirmed that he would be back on TV “tomorrow morning on Today.”
Earlier in July, Roker missed a handful of Today episodes while taking a tropical getaway with Roberts and their son, Nick. “We had a great time celebrating Nick Roker’s 23rd birthday in Bermuda this weekend,” Roker captioned Instagram snaps from the trip on July 21. “The folks at the @thelorenhotels Pink Beach were lovely and had a great #oldskool meal at @tommoorestavern Can’t wait to go back.”
