A taping of the upcoming seventh season of The Masked Singer saw judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke storm off set after Rudy Giuliani was unmasked as one of the contestants.

As first reported by Deadline, Jeong and Thicke apparently left the stage in protest quickly after the former New York mayor was revealed. Fellow judges Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger remained in their seats, and eventually, Jeong and Thicke returned to banter with Giuliani. The unmasking happened during the taping for the first episode of Season 7.

Giuliani, a former Trump lawyer who claimed the 2020 presidential election was stolen, is not the first controversial, Trump-supporting Republican to appear on the Fox series. In Season 3, former governor of Alaska and GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin was revealed as one of the costumed contestants after performing Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.”

In June 2021, Giuliani’s comments about the election saw him suspended from practicing law in New York. An appellate court determined that he had made “demonstrably false and misleading statements” about Trump’s election loss to Joe Biden. That same year, federal agents raided his home and office during an investigation into his work in Ukraine.

The theme of Season 7 is “The Good, the Bad and the Cuddly.” However, it’s not yet known what other celebrity contestants are appearing on the show, nor do we know what song Giuliani sang or what costume he was wearing.

The Masked Singer is set to return on Wednesday, March 9. A recent teaser trailer highlighted six of the costume that will feature in the new season, including a royal frog and a bug (The Good), a troll and a horned knight (The Bad), and a chipmunk and a lemur (The Cuddly).

Fox has yet to comment on Giuliani’s involvement in the upcoming season.
