Chicago actress Tamberla Perry earned critical praise for numerous performances in her hometown's vibrant theater scene before expanding into series regular work on such television programs as "A.P.B." (Fox, 2016- ). Born in Chicago, Illinois, Perry studied at the University of Rochester in New York before returning to her home state to appear in productions with such esteemed stage companies as the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Second City. For a period, she worked in diversity recruiting for a large retail company, but left to devote her time and energy to her acting career; roles on television series lensed in Chicago like the acclaimed "Boss" (Starz, 2011-2012), as well as a stint as the Illinois Lottery hostess for WGN-TV followed, as did stage roles in New York like "Barbecue" opposite Becky Ann Baker and Kim Wayans in 2015. The following year proved to be a breakout period for Perry, who enjoyed roles in both the Netflix comedy series "The Jamz," about a top-rated radio station in Chicago, and "A.P.B.," which cast her as a police officer working at a precinct owned and operated by an eccentric tech industry billionaire.
