In a world of reboots and sequels, spinoffs that expand a show’s universe are becoming increasingly inevitable, for better and for worse. Sometimes, the resulting shows mark an effort to expand upon a fan-favorite character or simply to grow the show’s universe, while other spinoffs give creators a chance to put a different “spin” on everything, from the cast to the tone of a show while still satisfying fans of the original.
