See What the ‘Forsytes’ Cast Looks Like Out of Costume (PHOTOS)
As with previous adaptations of John Galsworthy’s Forsyte Saga novels, the new Masterpiece production The Forsytes takes its cast members from modern times back to the Victorian Era as they portray the desire, ambition, and betrayal in a wealthy stockbroker family.
The production has tough acts to follow, including a popular 1967 BBC serial and a warmly-received ITV adaptation in 2002. But this version, set before the events of Galsworthy’s stories, is less remake and more “reimagining,” as showrunner Debbie Horsfield previously told TV Insider.
“In the books, the male characters are drawn in quite a lot of detail,” Horsfield explained. “But the women are drawn with less detail, and one of the key things that attracted me was looking at some of the female characters in an era where, historically, women were beginning to see the possibility of having more agency over their lives.”
As you’ll see below, the costumes have also been drawn in a lot of detail. Scroll down to see the cast in and out of that 19th-century-style garb.
