Becoming Superman by J. Michael Straczynski
The iconic sci-fi writer who has done everything—most notably his epic Spider-Man and Superman comic-book runs, Sense8,Babylon 5,The Real Ghostbusters, He-Man, The Twilight Zone, World War Z, Thor—does it again. Only this time, it’s all real. Released in tandem with Comic-Con, where he held a massively attended signing, Straczynski’s deeply personal memoir is an inspiring tale of one man’s horrifying childhood at the hands of his toxic, abusive family and the refuge he found in his beloved comics. amazon.com

Super7’s Universal Monster figures
Because Halloween should be celebrated year-round, of course we wanted these all-new exclusives! Available at the convention and the company’s themed Boodega a few blocks away, the hip AF fashion-and-collectible brand’s 3.5” Japanese ReAction figures are translucent versions of those classic Universal Monsters Dracula, Frankenstein, his Bride and The Invisible Man. In addition, they had drinkware, t-shirts and puzzles, as well as a delightful collection of Peanuts-themed items like a full-size Snoopy wearing a Charlie Brown mask that is pretty much the greatest thing ever. super7.com
