See ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ Cast In & Out of Costume (PHOTOS)
PBS Masterpiece brought Bille August’s adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo to American viewers in 2026. The eight-episode limited series stars Sam Claflin as Alexandre Dumas’s iconic character, Edmond Dantes, the man falsely accused of treason who seeks revenge after escaping from prison after 15 years in wrongful captivity. Jeremy Irons also stars as Abbé Faria, Edmond’s only companion during those years of imprisonment.
The Count of Monte Cristo airs on Sundays at 10/9c on PBS. It’s about halfway through the season, as of the time of publication, with Edmond now out of prison and slowly but surely exacting his revenge.
The Count of Monte Cristo cast is littered with international stars, some of whom might not be familiar to viewers in the United States. Claflin and Irons are joined by Ana Girardot, The Gilded Age‘s Blake Ritson, Harry Taurasi, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Michele Riondio, Karla-Simone Spence, Gabriella Pession, Jason Barnett, Lino Guanciale, and more.
Here, we’ve compiled what the cast of PBS’s The Count of Monte Cristo looks like in and out of their period costumes. Get to know the stars in the gallery below.
