The author of the book series on which the show is based will lend her talents to penning one of the season’s installments. In a Twitter exchange with writer and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts, she was asked if she’s had time to write anything recently. “What, you mean…..《drumroll》….like Ep 511?” she quipped. “Why, yes.”
Welcome Adso
Fans of the books will be pleased that a feline friend from Gabaldon’s pages will make his Outlander debut in Season 5: Adso has been welcomed to the cast with open arms.
Murtagh in Trouble
As viewers will recall, Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) godfather Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) was at the top of the redcoats list and Mr. Fraser will be faced with quite the dilemma moving forward: Does he sell out his family to remain loyal to those who created his prosperous life in America? Or will he continue to deceive his superiors in an attempt to preserve Murtagh’s life? As Murtagh isn’t alive in the books up to this point in the story, it’s anyone’s guess.
Claire’s Wish
In the teaser trailer, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) expresses her hope that daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and son-in-law Roger (Richard Rankin) don’t stay in the past for their own safety, as well as their child’s. Will Claire’s wish be granted, or will Bree refuse to be separated from her family?
More Romance
During their New York Comic Con appearance, Balfe and Heughan teased a deepening love between their characters, Jamie and Claire. “It just keeps expanding,” Balfe said during the show’s panel at the convention. “They’re there for each other no matter what.”
Grandpa and Grandma Fraser
Viewers will get to see a new side of Jamie and Claire when they step into the role of grandparents with Bree’s son running about. While it’s sure to be adorable, Heughan promised there will be some underlying tension between his character and Roger as that relationship continues to unfold in Season 5.
Outlander is months away from airing its upcoming fifth season but there are plenty of tidbits fans have been made aware of in regards to the Frasers’ latest chapter.
