After almost nine years, iCarly fans will finally have some new episodes of the wacky web-show sitcom when the revival premieres on June 17 on Paramount+. The hit show originally aired six seasons on Nickelodeon (2007-2012), becoming one of its most popular sitcoms and spawning a loyal fanbase as it followed three teens who create a viral webcast.

The new revival will definitely shake things up, though, picking up nearly 10 years later with the characters now dealing with the challenges of adulthood. Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove), Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress), and Carly’s brother Spencer Shay (Jerry Trainor) all return in the revival. New characters — like Carly’s roommate Harper (Laci Mosley) and Freddie’s stepdaughter Millicent (Jaidyn Triplett) — join the cast.

Scroll down to see all the things we want to see in the revival along with the questions we need answered.

Where's Sam?

One of the biggest surprises from the revival’s announcement was that Jennette McCurdy would not be returning as Carly’s best friend and webcast costar Sam Puckett. As the street-smart tomboy of the cast, Sam was one of the most integral members of the show and was as unpredictable as she was funny. How will the revival deal with the absence of one its most important characters? And how will the dynamic change now that the tough-but-lovable heart of the trio is missing?

The New Webshow

The original series premiered when YouTube was still relatively new and internet culture was just getting off the ground. Its parodies of vloggers and webcasts felt timely and appropriate for the late-2000s. But now that everyone and their mothers have YouTube channels, the iCarly web show will probably have to change for the times. More importantly, now that the cast are adults, some of the more childlike aspects might have to be toned down. We’re excited to see just how different it will be.

More Wild Gags

Even if the webcast changes, it wouldn’t be iCarly without some insanely silly gags to keep us entertained. Who could forget Random Dancing, Baby Spencer, or George the Bra? Despite having some mainstays that showed up from time to time, one of the funniest parts of the original series was the new sketches and segments in each episode of the web show. Even if the new show has a more mature tone, we hope at least some of these moments stick around.

Where Have They Been?

A lot can happen in almost a decade. We watched Carly and her friends grow over the course of the original’s six seasons, but it’s been a while since the show ended. We know Carly moved to Italy in the finale, and we also know Freddie has a step-daughter now. These characters are in a very different place from where we left them, and hopefully the revival goes in-depth on how they got there.

Unexpected Celebrity Guest Stars

From Jack Black to Tina Fey to One Direction, a highlight of the original iCarly was the many celebrities who would guest star. Some would play themselves while others would play characters within the show itself. Either way it was always a fun surprise to see one of our favorite celebs on screen with Carly and the gang. Hopefully we’ll see some more in the revival.

Heartwarming Sibling Moments

Carly and Spencer may seem like polar opposites on the surface, with her bright cheery demeanor contrasting his weird goofiness. But underneath all that is a tender relationship portrayed with a lot of emotion. One of the most heartbreaking moments in the original series was when Carly’s grandfather tried to take custody of her away from Spencer. He revealed all the little things he did to take care of his baby sister and be a good parental figure. Even though the characters are much older now, we hope to see more of that relationship in the revival.

iCarly Shirtless Gibby Noah Munck
Nickelodeon

What About Gibby?

Even though Sam will be a big absence, we’d be remiss to not mention the other missing piece of the revival. Gibby Gibson (Noah Munck) became an iconic part of the show and one of the biggest sources of memes from the original series. Few characters got shirtless on kids’ shows as often as he did, but Gibby made it hilarious every single time. While Munck will unfortunately not be returning, maybe the revival will at least acknowledge one of its funniest characters.
