8 ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Supporting Characters Who Should’ve Been Main Cast (PHOTOS)
Ellis Grey (Kate Burton)
It would’ve been hard to have Ellis as a main cast member, especially since she was suffering from Alzhemiers, but it would’ve been interesting to learn more about her and her past. There’s so much we don’t know about Ellis’s professional life and personal life before she had Meredith.
Finn Dandridge (Chris O’Donnell)
Though Meredith was always destined to be with Derek, she and Finn had a great relationship. It would’ve been nice to see more of him and his life. Not to mention, we never have main characters on the show who are not doctors, so it would’ve been a fun shake up.
Sadie Harris (Melissa George)
Sadie was absolutely nuts and we loved it. She shook up Meredith’s friendship with Cristina, flirted with Callie, and took some serious risks when it came to practicing medicine. She lived her life on the edge, which could’ve been a fun storyline to follow over multiple seasons. In our opinion, she was let go too soon.
Sloan Riley (Leven Rambin)
Viewers, and Mark Sloan himself, were shocked by the arrival of Sloan Riley. It was interesting to watch her dynamic with her father — who was figuring out how to be a dad — and her relationship with his girlfriend at the time, Lexie. Though there wasn’t a lot for Sloan to do, she brought something unique to the show.
Jason Myers (Charles Michael Davis)
Jason was the hot OB/GYN resident who dated Jo back in Season 9. While we prefer Jo’s current relationship with Alex, Jason was a good addition to the show. He made Alex jealous and created serious drama. Though things ended poorly between him and Jo — who could ever forget that fight?! — his storyline should’ve continued.
Heather Brooks (Tina Majorino)
Only the good die young! Heather had real potential to be a great doctor, but she was killed off way too early. In fact, there were a lot of other interns who should’ve left before Heather. She had a unique personality and was also entertaining to watch.
Sam Bello (Jeanine Mason)
Talk about getting the short end of the stick! Sam was introduced with all of the other interns back in Season 14, but she left the show way too soon. Not only did we not get to really dig into her previous relationship with DeLuca, we didn’t even get to learn anything about her. Just like we’re getting to learn about Schmidt now, we could’ve done the same with Sam.
Nico Kim (Alex Landi)
Nico was introduced as a recurring character in Season 15 and he will continue to be one in Season 16, but we really need him to be upped to a main cast member. His relationship with Schmidt is arguably the cutest and most heartwarming romance to happen on Grey’s in a long time, and we need to learn more about who he is as a person. We can’t lose him like we’ve lost so many other great characters in the past!
Grey’s Anatomy has had so many characters over the years, it can be difficult to remember the ones who have come and gone. From doctors who decided to switch jobs to love interests who were cast aside, there are a handful of characters who were seriously shortchanged.
