‘Dexter: Resurrection’: Clyde Phillips Teases Season 2 as New Trailer Drops
Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) returns for another round of serial slaying in the Dexter spinoff’s second season. This time, his “dark passenger” will grapple with the fabled New York Ripper (Brian Cox), find a new nemesis in the Five Borough Killer (Dan Stevens), and take on others who qualify for vengeance per his code of vigilante justice in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.
Series creator Clyde Phillips tells TV Insider the new episodes “will give the viewers — OG and new — everything they want.” That includes “dark humor, wry commentary, unique villains who more than deserve to be on Dexter’s table, and a boundary-setting father-and-son relationship” between Dexter and Harrison (Jack Alcott), who’s now sporting a badge of his own with the NYPD after finding out about his dad’s “extracurricular” activities. Dexter will also have to contend with the perils of being of a certain age, and Phillips says the character will face a new challenge: his midlife crisis.
Indeed, in the trailer, Dexter laments, “This is hardly the life I imagined I’d have in my 50s. A lifetime of blending in, it gets to you. Now, every young killer wants to make a name for himself, and the old ones refuse to be forgotten. And somehow, they’re the ones getting all the attention.”
The trailer also reveals the return of Mia LaPierre a.k.a. Lady Vengeance (Krysten Ritter) and Charley (Uma Thurman), the latter of whom insists they still have unfinished business. We also get a glimpse of some of the other “victims” who will find themselves on Dexter’s table, including one “kid” who apparently doesn’t even know who the Bay Harbor Butcher is. Ouch.
Plus, we’ll see the return of Lieutenant Quinn (Desmond Harrington) from the original series. Maybe he can figure out exactly what happened to Dexter’s friend Angel (David Zayas), who got too close to the truth last season and paid the ultimate price.
Scroll down further for first-look images from the new season that include newcomers Capt. Mixon (Bokeem Woodbine) and Fiona (Nona Parker Johnson), and Ray Ballard a.k.a. The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger (Gabriel Luna), along with returnees like Blessing Kamara (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine), Dets. Claudette Wallace and Melvin Oliva (Kadia Saraf and Dominic Fumusa), and others.
“It’s our mission to have the audience feel comfortable while always leaning forward; waiting to see what surprises we have in store…and we have plenty,” Phillips teases.
