Plus, Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) strikes up a conversation with Max (Rachael Leigh Cook), which comes about as part of an assignment from a therapist “to go have a normal day,” executive producer Erica Messer told TV Insider. “In that normal day, he meets someone who makes him smile and makes him happy. JJ sees that in him and tells him to go chase it.”
