This week on TV had us inspired with Zaila Avant-garde becoming the first African American winner of the Scripps National Spelling Bee and Janelle Monáe’s song “We the People” for the animated short series of the same name.

Meanwhile, the new iteration of Gossip Girl on HBO Max was relatable and understood the struggles of Zoom learning and Dave was as weird as ever. Over on MasterChef, a contestant lamented an ingredient she was given for a challenge, and a couple of judges had some words for an impression on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.
