Rizzoli & Isles (9/8c, TNT): With the popular crime drama now in its final weeks, the series’ stars are spending time on the other side of the lens. Several weeks ago, Angie Harmon directed an episode, and this time it’s Sasha Alexander’s turn, helming a mystery with a personal connection as a key suspect (the always welcome Kristoffer Polaha) shares a secret past with the M.E. Jane (Harmon), on the other hand, is still mulling her job offer from Quantico—the academy, not the ABC series.

The Disappearance (streaming on Acorn TV): In the tradition of Broadchurch and The Missing, this immersive mystery series from France (with English subtitles) begins with the vanishing of a tempestuous teen on the eve of her 17th birthday. As the tension mounts, secrets she has been keeping inevitably emerge. Alix Poisson is especially strong as the aggrieved, bewildered mother.

Summer Olympics 2016 (8/7c, NBC): The final week of competition gets underway, with prime-time coverage including more track and field, diving and several of the more intense individual gymnastics events: men’s rings and vault, women’s balance beam.

True Life: We Are Orlando (8/7c, MTV): Coping with unimaginable trauma and terror is the focus of a special installment of the docu-series, which follows four young-adult survivors of the mass shooting at an Orlando gay bar. Their stories and those of others in the community have been covered in a digital series running on MTV’s social channels.
