When Power returns for Season 3, big changes are in store. Nightclub impresario and drug dealer Ghost (Omari Hardwick) has vowed to go legitimate and reunites publicly with his first love, Angela (Lela Loren). And that leaves him estranged from wife Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and former business partner Tommy (Joseph Sikora).

“The theme for the season is ‘Be careful what you wish for,’” executive producer Courtney A. Kemp says. “Everyone starts with the things they wanted … and a lot of those things are based on fallacies.”

For the star-crossed Ghost and Angela, don’t expect a smooth road ahead. “We didn’t give them any rest,” Kemp teases. And as the case surrounding crime lord Lobos (Enrique Murciano) continues, Angela “gets roped in deeper.”

As Tommy attempts to make his mark on the drug empire, his split with Ghost “changes the show on- and off-set, because Omari and Joseph didn’t get to work together a lot for the first half of the season,” Kemp says. “I think that was difficult for them; it’s a really interesting time of growth for the show.”

With Tommy in charge, “we see him going about things his way,” Kemp adds. “They’re not always the wrong decisions, but they’re made quickly, without a lot of thought about what could happen.”

Now that Tasha and Ghost are on the outs, she finds an unexpected ally in Tommy. “They’ve both been mistreated by [Ghost],” Kemp says. And after surviving an attempt on his life, Kanan (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, also a producer on the series) is “way more vulnerable, complicated and, in some ways, way more interesting,” Agboh previews. “We definitely see a deep-dive into his feelings.”
