UnREAL Renewed For Third Season Before Season Two Premiere
Prepare for more on-screen romance and off-screen drama, as Lifetime has renewed fictitious behind-the-scenes dating show UnREAL for a third season—before season two debuts on June 6.
The second season will again focus on producers Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby) and Quinn King (Constance Zimmer) as they work on their dating competition, Everlasting. This season promises even more drama as Everlasting casts its first African-American bachelor (B.J. Britt).
"UnREAL is that rare series that redefines a network," Liz Gateley, the network's head of programming, said in a statement. "It not only reflects culture, but pushes culture forward by creating television’s first female antihero. The overwhelming fan and critical reaction set the bar incredibly high, but the writers and executive producing team, coupled with the outstanding performances by Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer, have taken the second season to even greater creative heights."
UnREAL has gotten more buzz than any Lifetime original series to date, with the show and Zimmer getting heavy Emmy mentions. In addition, its skeweing of shows like The Bachelor and The Bachelorette has gotten the attention of people like Bachelor/Bachelorette host Chris Harrison, who called the show "terrible" in an interview during the show's first season.
The 10-episode third season will air in 2017.
