‘Mom’ Hosts a Mini-‘West Wing’ Reunion
As Mom’s Bonnie (Allison Janney) continues to piece her life together, the May 5 episode of the CBS comedy finds the recovering alcoholic pondering which career might suit her best. “She recognizes her strengths are lying, wasting money and manipulating people,” says executive producer Chuck Lorre. “In other words, politics.”

As Bonnie fantasizes what it might be like if she were president, she envisions discussing issues with her chief of staff, played by Richard Schiff, Janney’s costar on The West Wing, in a scenario that might look very familiar to TV fans. “They talk and walk quickly through the White House corridors in an homage to The West Wing,” Lorre says. Hail to the chief!
