The Americans (10/9c, FX): It may be a good thing that secret Soviet spy Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) is getting in touch with his feelings via EST seminars. Because he and wife Elizabeth (Keri Russell) are in for a shock that will rattle the family to its core, when Paige (Holly Taylor) reveals that she exposed their secret identity to Pastor Tim. If that weren’t enough, there’s also that pesky vial of a deadly bio-weapon that they’re trying to hand off—and no one wants it. So much suspense to pack into a single hour.

The Middle (8/7c, ABC): Road trips rarely go smoothly for the Hecks, but maybe there’s safety in numbers as they ask the Donahues to come along for a spring-break getaway to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. Or maybe not. (Later, on Modern Family at 9/8c, Phil and Claire spontaneously jet off to Paris, but both may be too exhausted to enjoy it.)

black-ish (9:30/8:30c): This bold family sitcom specializes in challenging racial stereotypes. Imagine the soul-searching as Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) and Dre (Anthony Anderson) contemplate hiring a black nanny (Regina Hall) to manage their hectic household.

Inside Wednesday TV: A deadly Cupid (Amy Gumenick) is on the loose as The CW’s Arrow returns (8/7c), and who would be more perfect bait than Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards)? … The beloved Bobby (Jim Beaver) is back on The CW’s Supernatural—though in flashbacks, it appears—as Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) revisit one of their mentor’s cases to help them take down a monster. … truTV’s amusing hidden-camera show The Carbonaro Effect (10/9c) returns with Shaquille O’Neal assisting illusionist/prankster Michael Carbonaro on a literally giant-sized stunt.
