When Will ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Return for Season 2?
It’s no secret that Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is one of TV’s best comedies — the show pretty much swept the genre at this year’s Emmys — so it’s understandable that fans are itching for a Season 2 premiere date, and thankfully, they’re in luck.
During the big ceremony, creator and award winner Amy Sherman-Palladino spoke about the show’s upcoming episodes. “They’re being so cagey,” she told Deadline in regards to announcing the show’s return date.
However, Sherman-Palladino did let it slip that the acclaimed series will return before the year is up. “This year, they’re waiting for us to finish the show, it’s coming out this year,” she confirmed.
The hit debuted in late 2017, in the midst of the scandals which spawned the #MeToo movement. It follows Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan), a recently-separated housewife, who gives a go at becoming a stand-up comic, and the 1950s setting seemed more relevant than ever.
“You never set out to drive a political message through your show, it just won’t work,” Sherman-Palladino said. “You gotta love the show, love your characters, it was an interesting fluke that Maisel came out when we were taking trolls down. I’m glad it’s a character that still resonates. We can look back at 1959 and see that today women aren’t wearing corsets anymore, but the problems still exist.”
While fans hold out for a specific date, at least it shouldn’t be too long! Season 2 will be about “opening Midge’s world up,” said Palladino. We can’t wait!
