What if literature’s greatest villains came to life and duplicated their fictional crimes in the real world? That’s the central case in Season 2 of The Librarians, TNT’s fantasy adventure about a secret archive stacked with the world’s supernatural artifacts.

The family-friendly show resumes six months after last season’s finale with the library’s three novices—Jake (Christian Kane), Cassandra (Lindy Booth) and Ezekiel (John Kim)—together again and back saving the world after being stuck in different timelines, while their mentor, Flynn (Noah Wyle), and their guardian, Eve (Rebecca Romijn), have returned from their own adventure date.

Their combined wisdom will be needed as they face off against “troublemaking characters summoned from fiction,” according to executive producer Dean Devlin. Among them: Frankenstein’s monster (Michael Gladis), Sherlock Holmes’s diabolical nemesis Professor Moriarty (David S. Lee), Alice in Wonderland’s head-chopping Queen of Hearts (Vanessa Vander Pluym) and The Tempest’s Prospero (Richard Cox).

Of course, this fictional flood won’t be the season’s only crisis. “Magic is out and loose in the world, and it’s much harder now to keep it a secret,” Devlin says. “How much longer can the Librarians keep the genie in the bottle?” That’s a question they could face both literally and figuratively.
