What’s Worth Watching: A Deadly Night in Wayward Pines

Wayward Pines, “Don’t Discuss Your Life Before” (Thursday, May 21, 9/8c, Fox)

The body count starts to rise tonight on the Fox limited event series Wayward Pines when Special Agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) continues his search for answers about the idyllic yet mysterious small town with the help of an unlikely ally in bartender Beverly (Juliette Lewis). Ethan’s former partner and now Wayward Pines resident Kate (Carla Gugino) invites them over to a dinner party with her husband Harold (Reed Diamond), which quickly turns chaotic once Ethan and Beverly enact their escape plan. Meanwhile, Ethan’s wife Theresa (Shannyn Sossamon) and son Ben (Charlie Tahan) are getting more and more suspicious as to his whereabouts. When they are stonewalled by the Secret Service, the mother and son duo hit the road on a rogue investigation. If last week’s season premiere had you scratching your head in terms of storytelling twists and turns, tonight’s hour will elicit gasps when one of the series regulars meets his or her shocking death.
