What’s Worth Watching: There’s No Place Like Home On Outlander
Outlander, “Lallybroch” (Saturday, April 25, 9/8c, Starz)
Relationship update: Jamie (Sam Heughan) now knows the truth about Claire (Caitriona Balfe) being from the future—”It would have a good deal easier if you’d only been a witch,” he mused after saving her from being burned alive last week. Their feisty and torrid bond deepens on this intoxicating romantic fantasy when he takes her to his family home of Lallybroch, from where he’s been exiled for four years. Claire’s an “outlander” there as well, greeted icily by Jamie’s spirited sister Jenny (Laura Donnelly) and finding herself once again at odds with her lover when she exhibits her 20th-century spunk by challenging him before others. “This is my family, my land, my time,” Jamie cautions her, only to be reminded, “I’m not the meek or obedient type.” We’ll say.
The homecoming is further clouded as Jamie is assailed by dark memories of the violent and psychological damage Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) inflicted on him and his family before his fugitive days. Painful flashbacks to be sure, but cathartic as Jamie and Claire grow ever closer through adversity.
