Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough worried about showing President Donald Trump‘s latest actions from the midterm rallies because they are becoming too “X-rated” for morning television.
Scarborough was referencing Trump’s latest appearance in Texas, where he mocked Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. The president continues to claim Talarico is vegan, seemingly because the Texas Democrat once advocated for reducing meat consumption. Talarico has repeatedly denied being vegan.
Speaking to a crowd in Corpus Christi on Tuesday (October 27), Trump theorized that Talarico’s recent public absence was because “he was food poisoned by meat because he can’t stand it.”
He went on to say, “You ever see him go to a barbecue and he’s trying to show, ‘I love the meat! Ahhh, I love it. Look!'” while performing what looked like a lewd gesture with his hand and mouth. “And then you see him. Where is he? He’s behind the tent puking. He’s sick as a dog.”
Scarborough touched on Trump’s Talarico attack while discussing the president’s recent fixation on men’s physiques. “It’s really hard for him to find a man’s body he doesn’t like,” Scarborough said, per Mediaite, before singing a parody of the novelty song “I’ve Been Everywhere.”
“Stop, Joe!” his wife and cohost Mika Brzezinski said.
“The obsession with men’s physiques…” Scarborough continued. “And then last night, he was doing a motion on eating meat. I don’t think we can show it. It’s kind of X-rated.”
“Is he okay?” Brzezinski said of Trump. “I mean, where’s you-know-who to write that you-know-what? We need a book. I mean, there was a book on Biden.”
Cohost Willie Geist then quipped that it “really has to sting” for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who was one of the few men not on Trump’s “hot list.”
In the past few weeks, Trump has praised the looks of various Republican politicians, most notably Senator Jon Husted (R-OH), whom he admitted to checking out his ass.
Geist went on to say that these sexual comments from Trump are a distraction tactic, “so they become a laugh line in the room, so he doesn’t have to talk about the price of gas and diesel and all of those things.”
“That’s also the president of United States who’s going around saying like, ‘Talarico is gay.’ He’s the one talking like this!” Scarborough added, while also mocking Vice President JD Vance for “wearing his eyeliner.”
Scarborough continued, “I don’t understand this; I’m just a simple caveman lawyer, and dudes don’t go around talking about other guys this way. It is clearly an obsession with him. And again, it’s just totally fine if you’re obsessed with men; you’re obsessed with men. I don’t understand it, but you know… It’s not innuendo; it’s explicit. And he’s doing the motions last night.”
