‘Broadchurch’ Is Leaving Netflix — Where to Stream Olivia Colman & David Tennant’s Drama

Olivia Colman and David Tennant in Broadchurch
BBC America

Thirteen years ago, TV viewers were introduced to DI Alec Hardy (David Tennant) and DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) in the first of three seasons of tragic, personal cases in England. Broadchurch has held up, and in the years since, has been available to stream on various platforms.

In November, though, it’s leaving Netflix, the go-to streamer for many TV viewers. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean it will no longer be available to stream. Below, we’ve rounded up everything we know about when its last day on Netflix is and where you can watch it going forward.

When is Broadchurch leaving Netflix?

Broadchurch is leaving Netflix on Sunday, November 1.

The series ran three seasons and for 24 episodes, following the detectives and people of the titular town, as well as the investigations and impact they had on the community. It also starred Jodie Whittaker, Jonathan Bailey, Charlotte Beaumont, Andrew Buchan, Arthur Darvill, Matthew Gravelle, Carolyn Pickles, and Adam Wilson.

Can you stream Broadchurch elsewhere?

Yes, Broadchurch is available to stream on Peacock, PBS, Tubi, Roku, Hoopla, Pluto TV, and Plex.

Will there be a Broadchurch Season 4?

No. The third season was released in 2017 and was the final one.

When TV Insider spoke with Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall in January about Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, he explained why there never would be another season.

“It’s so complete, and I think we’ve sort of toyed with ideas, or sometimes, because I live near the beach where Broadchurch [took place], I’ll be walking along, and I was like, ‘Oh, maybe that or this,’” he admitted.

“I think sometimes you capture lightning in a bottle with the show, and I think we did that with Broadchurch, and it’s just really great to let that sit, I think,” he continued. “And people still are rediscovering it now, so it’s really lovely.”

He also speculated about where Hardy and Miller would be now. “I think they’re still bickering on that bench. I really do, where we left them,” he said, but added, “Hardy, he’ll be retired now. He’ll be out of the police. So maybe he’s a private detective somewhere.”
