‘NCIS: Origins’ Sneak Peek: Gibbs Is Questioned About His Boat

Austin Stowell as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Kyle Schmid as Mike Franks — 'NCIS: Origins' Season 3 Episode 4 "Shimmy Shimmy Ya"

Well, now what Austin Stowell and Mariel Molino told us about Gibbs’ boat for our digital cover for NCIS: Origins Season 3 makes sense. “At some point, maybe Gibbs has a visitor in the shed,” he teased. “It’s not me,” she interjected. “It’s not one that he wants,” he finished. TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the Tuesday, October 27, episode reveals just who that person is.

In the 1993 timeline of “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” the team intervenes when a general’s rebellious teen son (Freddie O’Donahue’s Jack) is targeted by dangerous former gang member — not that he’s telling them about that when they question him at HQ after he beats Lala and Randy (Caleb Foote) in foosball. “You brought Mustache in? I’m getting the big dog now,” Jack remarks when Gibbs and Franks walk into the room.

Randy explains to his boss, “We all got nicknames, boss. Gibbs is Popeye because his boat and all, I’m Ginger Snap, not loving it.” Lala, on the other hand, is very much enjoying it. But Franks doesn’t want to hear it and asks who he’s running from.

Jack insists he just got spooked while out for a jog and ran into “Popeye’s creepy boat shed.” Then he asks a question that so many have after him: “How are you going to get that thing out of there anyway?”

“Don’t worry about his weird hobbies,” Franks says. “He thinks somebody was chasing you, and I’m betting he was right.” Watch the full sneak peek above for more.

Is Jack also the reason that Molino revealed the boat “goes 10 steps forwarded and then 30 steps back”?

Meanwhile, in the present in this episode, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) returns to a place full of memories and reunites with Bishop (Emily Wickersham, back in the role for multiple episodes).

“It was really fun. It was like we were just jumping back into it. It was as if no time had passed,” Wickersham told us of working with Harmon again. “We’ve worked together for so many years and I think, I feel like we have such an easy back and forth. It was great. It was also kind of nostalgic for me. I haven’t really worked with him in, I feel like it’s been, I guess, six years now, which is crazy to me that that much time has gone by, but it really didn’t feel like that at all.”
