A mispronunciation turned Craig Melvin‘s on-air interview with Parker Posey into a hilarious moment.
The White Lotus alum chatted with Melvin on the Monday, October 28, episode of Today about her new show, The Mob, her new movie, Wild Horse Nine, and her viral “Piper, no” moment from her March 2025 Today interview with Melvin.
Toward the end of the pair’s latest interview, Melvin asked Posey about her next career steps. “Before I let you get out of here, we gotta talk horror,” he stated. After Posey looked at him, confused, Melvin realized she’d misheard him. “No, horror!” he quickly clarified.
Taking the moment in jest, Posey exclaimed, “I thought you called me a whore!” A horrified Melvin clarified, “I did not call you a whore! H-O-R-R-O-R. Horror. I did not enunciate well.”
The pair burst into laughter before Melvin tried to continue the conversation, mentioning her previous horror projects, including Scream 3 and Blade: Trinity. “Tell us about your new horror film,” he asked, to which Posey bluntly replied, “I’m not doing it.”
Her response confused Melvin, who cited reports that Posey was set to star in an upcoming horror film called Sleepover. “No. I’m not doing it anymore,” she stated. “I was. It’s not happening anymore. Something came up.”

Melvin quipped, “OK, well, now it’s even more awkward than usual.” Posey assured the host that their exchanges were “funny” before playfully poking fun at him. “Hey, you’re the sexiest man alive! Hotter than a cup of coffee, Craig!” she quipped, referring to Melvin’s recent People’s Sexiest Man Alive Readers’ Choice Poll 2026 win in the category of “Hotter Than Your Morning Cup of Coffee.”
Melvin’s interview with Posey isn’t the only on-air flub he has experienced recently. Earlier this month, actor Herbert Nordrum dropped an expletive on the third hour of Today while promoting his new film, Sense and Sensibility. At the end of the interview, Melvin and his co-hosts, Dylan Dreyer and Savannah Sellers, celebrated Nordrum’s first time in New York City by surprising him with a pizza and bagel platter.
“This is on my list! Holy s**t!” Nordrum exclaimed before quickly placing his hand over his mouth. An amused Melvin shouted, “You are a New Yorker! You are officially a New Yorker. We’ll clean it up for the West Coast.”
At the end of the interview, Melvin joked, “You were almost worth the FCC fine.”
