  • Find out what’s ahead, including plot details, and when there will be a break.

Heartland Season 20 is coming to the U.S. just in time for the holidays.

TV Insider has learned exclusively that Heartland Season 20 will premiere on Thursday, November 19, on UP Faith & Family. Episodes will be added weekly to the streaming service, with a four-week break after Episode 5 — giving you time to catch up over the holidays — before returning on Thursday, January 14. Premiere night will include an exclusive, live virtual viewing event where fans can watch together and connect.

When the series, which is the longest running, one-hour drama in Canadian television history, picks up in Season 20, “Amy [Amber Marshall] grapples with a difficult decision about her future with Nathan [Spencer Lord] and how that will affect her life at Heartland. Meanwhile, a dynamic rival gallops into town with serious horse skills, a flair for fashion and a dedicated online following. But her sudden arrival leaves Amy a little wary about her true intentions,” the description teases.

It continues, “Lou [Michelle Morgan] has landed on her next grand business venture, but finds herself distracted by an impending milestone. As Katie [Baye McPherson] grows more independent, Lou is forced to confront and reflect on her own fears about what comes next. Jack [Shaun Johnston] is slow to trust Dex [Dylan Hawco] after he disappointed him last season, but once Dex proves he’s willing to change, Jack helps him to realize his true potential in the rodeo, and in life. In the face of uncertainty and the highs and lows of life on a ranch, Amy and the Barlett-Fleming family will defy the odds as they embark on another exhilarating chapter of this Western saga.”

“One of the things we love most about Heartland is the incredible connection fans have to the series and its characters,” said Crissie Miller, vice president, content strategy at UP Entertainment, in a statement. “For years, we’ve been proud to be the destination where U.S. audiences can watch new seasons of Heartland first, and we’re thrilled to once again bring Season 20 to our subscribers so close to its Canadian premiere. As fans ourselves, we know how much anticipation surrounds each new chapter. Our watch party is a chance to celebrate together, share in the excitement and connect with fellow Heartland fans as this beloved story continues.”

Heartland, based on Lauren Brooke’s books, is executive produced by Michael Weinberg, Tom Cox, Jordy Randall, Mark Haroun (who also serves as showrunner), and Ken Craw. Dean Bennett and Caitlin D. Fryers are co-executive producers. Jess Maldaner is a producer for Season 20. This season is also written by Haroun, Craw, Fryers, Mika Collins, and Tanvi Bhatia, and directed by Bennett, Ken Filewych, Michelle Morgan, Alicia K. Harris, Melanie Scrofano, and Maldaner.

I love this show when it first came on TV. I really wasn’t interested in it and then a friend of mine. She and I started talking about it and she made it sound so interesting so I started watching it from the beginning until now and sure I was upset when Ty passed away. I just couldn’t understand why he wanted to leave heartland when it was such a lovely show. It was very down home and we don’t find many of those but I continue watching it and sure I’m not really that King on Amy’s new boyfriend he grew on me. I’m just so glad that she and Caleb did not get together. Some people think that they belong together, but not me. That’s not a very good pair specially for the little girl Lindy if that’s how you spell her name, but I do think that Amy does need someone in her life. I was very upset and I cried when Ty left a show, but I still kept on keeping on watching it and it’s such a wonderful show. I can’t wait until season 20 airs.

I stopped watching Heartland when Ty died. I starting back watching in September season 14 through 19. It was OK. I love the actors and actresses BUT Nathan and Amy is not a good fit. There’s no chemistry there like it was between her and Ty. Maybe Amy and Caleb would work better or find somebody else for Amy. What about if Scott hired a new vet? Maybe bring in someone from the rodeo. Please just do something different with Amy and a relationship. Thank you.
