Worth Watching: ‘Family Guy’ Goes to Hell, ‘FBI’ & ‘CIA’ Return, ‘Private Eyes’ Relocates
A special Halloween-themed Family Guy episode sends Stewie and Brian to Hell. FBI returns for a ninth season, with Maggie adjusting to a new partner, followed by the Season 2 premiere of CIA. The light mystery Private Eyes returns after five years, moving to Canada’s West Coast, joined on the CW by a second season of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.

Family Guy
You’d be surprised, if you didn’t already know this animated comedy’s irreverent sensibility, to learn who is spending eternity in Hell. Not a surprise: malevolent baby Stewie and his enabling dog Brian, who find themselves in the underworld in a “Happy Hell-o-ween” special (streaming on Hulu) when they’re killed while debating whether to save a drowning soul. Succession‘s Kieran Culkin guest-voices as the Devil, welcoming the unrepentant duo to damnation and eventually putting them in charge while the demon takes a breather. As if things weren’t already bad enough down there.

FBI
It’s not business as usual in the ninth season of the Dick Wolf procedural, with Maggie (Missy Peregrym) still adjusting to a new partner (Roland Buck III as Isaiah Green) several months after OA (Zeeko Zaki) was sent undercover. In the opener, the team investigates killings linked to a top-secret government project.

CIA
FBI‘s John Boyd crosses over as Special Agent Stuart Scola for the spy-agency spinoff’s Season 2 premiere, which also takes a three-month time jump. Fellow FBI guy Bill Goodman (Nick Gehlfuss) returns to work from burying his father, only to be rocked by a bombshell discovery, while CIA partner Colin Glass (Tom Ellis) works a case involving a cartel fixer who’s made an unwelcome arrival in New York City.

Private Eyes West Coast
Does the “C” in CW stand for Canada? That’s where most of what’s left of their drama lineup is coming from these days. The latest arrival is a reboot of the light mystery series that aired in Canada from 2016 to 2021. Five years later, private investigators Matt Shadow (90210 alum Jason Priestley), a former hockey star, and Angie Everett (Cindy Sampson) have hung up their shingle for personal reasons and relocated from Toronto to Canada’s West Coast in scenic Victoria, British Columbia. Matt has published a memoir (to scathing reviews) and isn’t eager to hop back into crime-solving, but when a friend of Angie’s is accused of murdering her boyfriend during a fancy surprise birthday party, they can’t stop themselves. And so the fun resumes.

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent
The across-the-border extension of the Law & Order franchise is staying put in Toronto, where Detective Sergeants Henry Graff (Rectify’s Aden Young) and Frankie Bateman (Kathleen Munroe) solve tricky cases each week. Season 2 (which aired in Canada in 2025) opens with arson and murder within an unpopular encampment of the unhoused in a city park. Are the two crimes related? Once they resolve that issue, they discover a more personal motive behind the killing.

The usually reliable FBI/CIA combo tonight on CBS. Will also watch CW’s very under rated L&O CI Toronto later (if I’m up) or another night.

I attempted to watch Tracker last night. But it started up too late and I fell asleep after the first 10 minutes or so. Very generic episode from what saw. Usually the season premiere feels more special. Did anyone here watch it? Did it improve as it progressed?
