Kelly Ripa Reacts to Husband Mark Consuelos’ Bizarre Birthday Tribute
What To Know
- Mark Consuelos celebrated Kelly Ripa’s 56th birthday on Live with Kelly and Mark by humorously comparing her to both Gandhi and Groucho Marx, highlighting her peaceful nature and comedic talent.
- The couple reminisced about the origins of Ripa’s name and discussed popular baby names from the year she was born, sharing personal anecdotes with the audience.
Mark Consuelos made sure his wife, Kelly Ripa, had a 56th birthday she would never forget. He compared her to two historical figures on Live with Kelly and Mark on Friday.
“It’s Friday, Oct. 2, 2026 — otherwise known as my beautiful wife’s birthday today. Happy birthday!” Consuelos said to Ripa and the audience at the beginning of the show. The audience cheered as the couple hugged at the desk.
Consuelos, 55, then went on to say that other important people were born on October 2. Ripa listed Gandhi, Sting, Donna Karan, and Lorraine Bracco. “Annie Leibovitz. Let’s see who else… Groucho Marx!” Consuelos added.
“When I think of you, I don’t necessarily think of Gandhi. But if Gandhi and Groucho Marx had a kid — a daughter — because, you know what I mean?” he said. “You do have this very peaceful, very strong character, but you’re also really, really funny. I’m not sure Gandhi was funny, but I know Groucho Marx was very funny.” Ripa’s husband then compared her to Marx because he was an early actor who rose through the ranks of the entertainment industry.
“People say that Gandhi was really funny?” Ripa said.
“Really?” Consuelos asked excitedly.
“I don’t know,” she replied with a laugh.
They went on to talk about the origins of her name and which names were the most popular in the year that she was born, 1970. They were Kimberly, Lisa, and Jennifer. The male names were Michael, David, and James.
Ripa shared that she was almost named Kim. However, their neighbors named their daughters Kelly and Kim, which is what her parents wanted to call them, but they settled on Kelly and Linda.
For the celebration, the couple wore black and white clothing. “In honor of my birthday, you wear your pants that were 300 pounds,” Ripa said. The hosts then went on to talk about other topics and welcome Florence Pugh and Donald Faison as guests.
At the end of the show, Consuelos rolled out a huge cake for his wife. It was vanilla icing with chocolate sprinkles and a whale on top. Ripa asked if the whole thing was ice cream. “Happy birthday from all of us here at Live and at home,” Consuelos said. He cut the cake, and Ripa grabbed his face and kissed him in thanks.
