By the first commercial break, Franke, a pastor, had the lead with $3,200. Robbins was in second with $2,600. The champion found the Daily Double on clue 21.
He had $4,600, which was only $300 off the lead, and wagered $3,000. The clue in “The Other Side” read, “Someone obliged to take the other side of an argument is one of these, a post that once held sway in canonization.”
“What is The Devil’s Advocate?” he answered correctly. This gave him the lead with $7,600.
At the end of the round, Robbins had $8,000. Franke was in second place with $4,600. Meyerson, a political consultant, had $2,800.
In Double Jeopardy, Franke found the first DD on clue 15. She had $10,200 compared to Robbins’ $12,000.
Franke wagered $3,500 in “6-Syllable Words.” The clue was “It was first used in a book title in a 1559 work subtitled ‘Knowledge of the World of Disciplines.'”
“What’s Philosophical?” she answered incorrectly. The correct response was Encyclopedia, so Franke dropped to $6,700.
Robbins found the last DD on clue 26. He had $12,000 when Franke had $11,100. Robbins wagered $3,000 in “Remembering Dolly Parton.”
The clue was “Inspired by a patchwork garment that her mother made for her from rags, Dolly wrote this song, a personal favorite.” “What is ‘Jolene’?’ he answered incorrectly.
The correct response was “The Coat of Many Colors.” He dropped to second place with $9,000. However, two clues later, Robbins retook the lead.
By the end of the round, he had the lead with $11,800. Franke had $10,300. Meyerson was in third place with $4,400.
The Final Jeopardy category was “Going to the Movies.” The clue read, “On its 35th anniversary in 2026, this film was said to have ‘shattered… gender stereotypes’ & embodied ‘unwavering friendship.'” Only one of the game show contestants got it right, but did it secure them a win?
Meyerson’s response was “What is Thelma & Louise?” which was correct. He wagered $2,000, giving him $6,400.
“What is….?” was Franke’s response. She wagered $1,400, making her total $8,900. Robbins’ response was “What is Tootsie?” He wagered $8,801, making his final total $2,999.
