‘ESPN Jeopardy!’ Fans React to Season 2 Change & Say Anytime Test Is ‘Very Hard’

ESPN Jeopardy! is coming back for another season, and they made a big change to their contestants. Fans reacted to the change and shared that the Anytime Test is very hard.

The game show was renewed for a second season on September 28. While Season 1 featured ESPN on-air talent and celebrities competing for money for charity, Season 2 will bring everyday sports fans to the Alex Trebek Stage to put their knowledge to the test.

Another change coming to ESPN Jeopardy! is that the prize went from $500,000 to $300,000 for the civilian version. Joe Buck will be back as host.

Here’s what fans said about the changes. “Made no sense to do celebs for this. It made them dumb down the trivia, and people interested in a sports Jeopardy are probably people who find any sports category on normal Jeopardy! super easy. Want to see something more challenging,” a Reddit user said.

“It’ll be interesting to see where on the difficulty meter they land based on the contestants they get,” another commented.

“As someone who has no interest in sports and will most likely never watch an episode of this… This is an excellent change and I hope it’s crunchy as hell for those who are into it. Celeb versions are so dumbed down, the folks who this show is for are gonna be the kinda folks who want REAL deep cuts and facts and figures. This is a big positive, imho,” a third added.

“The first season was frustrating because the contestants were literal employees at ESPN who cover sports for their day jobs and were getting basic questions wrong,” a fan replied.

Others commented on the Anytime Test, saying that it was way harder than the original version. The test contains 50 sports-related questions. Anyone who is 18 years old and a resident of the USA or Canada can apply. “I am a lifelong sports fan, and this was hard as hell,” a Reddit user said.

“Just gave it a go! I choked on some easy questions,” another said.

“Oof, that was hard,” a third said.

“Just took it. I feel I did pretty good. Some tough ones in there. I don’t recommend doing it on mobile,” a fan commented.

“Not easy!” one last fan said.
