‘Dancing With the Stars’: Witney Carson Claps Back at Claim She Wants to Be Eliminated
What To Know
- Witney Carson and Guillermo Rodriguez have made it through three weeks of Dancing With the Stars, despite consistently landing at the bottom of the leaderboard.
- Carson addressed fan speculation that she was upset to not be eliminated during the September 29 episode.
- She also gave an update on how she’s handling dancing while pregnant.
Witney Carson is balancing a lot on Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars. Not only is she pregnant with her third child, but she’s a mother to two toddlers and has now scored at the bottom of the leaderboard three weeks in a row with partner Guillermo Rodriguez.
All season long, fans have been dissecting Carson’s every move on social media and on the show, and many have come to the conclusion that she wants to be eliminated sooner rather than later so she can focus on her kids and pregnancy. It’s been theorized that she was partnered with Rodriguez because she wanted an early exit, not realizing just how popular he would be with fans who have voted him through week after week.
After Rodriguez and Carson made it through another elimination on the September 29 episode (Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart were the couple sent home instead), Carson took to Instagram to shut down the rumors that she was upset to not be voted off.
“I do feel like I need to address some rumors going around, or some opinions, speculations, whatever you want to call it,” Carson said. “Every week, Guillermo and I have been put in the ‘bottom three,’ which doesn’t necessarily mean all those couples have the lowest votes, but it does mean you don’t get to celebrate that you are safe. You only get to hear who’s going home.”

She then addressed her reaction to Stewart and Hanson’s elimination, adding, “My face, what you’re seeing, is genuinely sad for the people going home, and then excitement, obviously. So those two emotions are existing at once. But my first initial reaction is sad for whoever’s going home, then, obviously, we celebrate, and they don’t really show that bit.”
Carson clarified that she’s “very happy” to be continuing on with Rodriguez. “He really deserves it,” she said of her partner. “He is genuinely a kind person. He genuinely wants to get better. He never gives up. Anytime I’m resting in rehearsal, he’s practicing. Anytime we’re just hanging out, he’s practicing. That is his best. What you see on Tuesdays is his very best. And I think there’s a lot to say for someone who may not have the skills, but is willing to learn and put in the work. That is an amazing thing and he deserves it.”
Finally, Carson posted another video to assure fans she’s medically cleared to dance while pregnant. “Dancing, I’ve done for a long time, so I know how far to push my body and the baby’s health has always been my number one priority,” Carson explained. “I have no reserve when it comes to speaking up about physically overdoing it, which I do not feel that way at all, and the show is more than willing to help out in any capacity. As of now,I feel really good. I’m more tired than usual, but when I’m not rehearsing, I’m resting, I’m doing all the things my doctor has approved of, so you guys can rest easy.”
Carson also posted a tribute to Stewart following her unexpected elimination. “You are an absolute star in every way,” she wrote. “You and Taylor were magic on that floor every week & your choreography is always incredible with whomever you have but especially this season. It was a journey cut WAY TOO SOON. I’m sorry and I love you.”
