‘Dancing With the Stars’: Britt Stewart Reacts to Elimination as Fans Are Furious About Her Exit

Britt Stewart and Taylor Hanson faced an early exit on Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars, getting eliminated on the September 29 episode, despite scoring higher than both Guillermo Rodriguez/Witney Carson and Tyler Cameron/Sharna Burgess.

The pair’s reaction when the elimination was announce said it all. They both had shocked expressions on their faces, and Stewart began profusely apologizing to her partner. After the show, Hanson and Stewart briefly spoke to Good Morning America about being sent home.

“I’m definitely still in shock,” she admitted. “It’s funny, you have to be careful what you say, because I said from the beginning that this season would be unexpected. Didn’t think it would be unexpected for us in this way.”

She continued, “What I can say is that I am incredibly grateful for the support that we have had. I’m incredibly grateful for meeting Taylor. There are a few times in your life when you meet people that you really align with and I feel like we align in so many different way and so this is just the beginning for us. I’m greatful. At the end of the day, I’m grateful.”

Hanson and Stewart scored an 18/30 for their yacht rock night dance, trying with Ciara Miller/Brandon Armstrong and Jackson Olson/Emma Slater on the leaderboard. Cameron/Burgess finished with 17/30, while Rodriguez/Carson earned a 15/30. However, this show is not just about the judges’ scores, and the eliminations are decided on who has the lowest combined scores and viewer votes.

“Getting to know [Britt] and getting to spend this time, we’ve had a blast,” Hanson said. “It’s been hard. It’s been really testing. She’s had to be pseudo-counselor slash dance instructor. … This is such a beautiful leap. Anybod who comes on this show, you don’t get to delegate it to some other person. You have to get in and dance. I’m sad to see it end because we were just getting started.”

Meanwhile, fans online were furious to see Stewart eliminated in 13th place. Many pointed out that she has never made the finale with any of her partners, and noted her low placements in the last four seasons (she finished in 11th with Adrian Peterson in Season 32, 10th with Eric Roberts in Season 33, and 13th with Baron Davis in Season 34).

Stewart’s highest-placing season was with now-husband Daniel Durant in Season 31. They finished in fifth. Prior to that she came in sixth place with Johnny Weird and 15th place with Martin Kove.
