Charlie & Martin Sheen Father-Son Comedy Series ‘Happy Jack’ Greenlit at AMC

Father-son duo Martin Sheen and Charlie Sheen will star as a father and son in a new comedy series called Happy Jack at AMC. AMC Global Media announced the series on Tuesday, September 29, saying that production will start in Los Angeles in early 2027.

The series reunites executive producers and co-showrunners Jim Patterson and Matt Ross, who worked together on Two and a Half Men with the younger Sheen. Happy Jack will be filmed in front of a live studio audience at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, in the same studio where Friends was filmed.

Happy Jack will air on AMC and stream on AMC+ and is a production of AMC Studios. The six-episode first season is a contemporary family comedy with Sheen as Jack Chambers, a bit of a lifelong ne’er-do-well. He’s got two great daughters (though his dad, played by Martin Sheen, deserves more credit for how they turned out). Kate runs Jack’s company and keeps him on the rails while Sam is a wild child who is more like her dad.

When Sam comes home to introduce everyone to her new boyfriend, Jack’s shocked to learn Paul, a former investment banker turned van-life guru, is the same age as he is. Shocked at first (hypocrisy be damned), Jack soon realizes he’s got a choice to make. Will he keep looking out for number one, or embrace this last chance to be a real part of his daughters’ lives?

Patterson and Ross helm Happy Jack, which the younger Sheen also executive produces. Additional executive producers are Todd Christopher, The Tannenbaum Company (Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, and Jason Wang), and 20th Television.

The younger Sheen most recently appeared in Bookie on HBO. The elder Sheen’s most recent acting role was on The CW’s Wild Cards and Netflix’s Grace and Frankie before that.
