‘Bargain Block’s Keith Bynum Takes Swipe at HGTV as He Shares Update With Fans

Bargain Block star Keith Bynum just took a swipe at HGTV while sharing an update with fans.

On September 24, the designer and renovation expert took to his Instagram Stories, per a screenshot shared on Reddit, with a pointed message regarding his former employer.

“Soooo happy to see this house almost done after getting royally f***ed by HGTV,” he captoined a photo of himself standing in front of a partially-constructed home. “Like a phoenix from the ashes it rises.”

In June 2025, HGTV canceled Bargain Block after four seasons; the show premiered in April 2021, and aired its final episode in September 2025.

This isn’t the first time Bynum has publicly shared harsh words against HGTV since the cancellation. In June 2025, he posted an Instagram photo of himself and his longtime boyfriend and Bargain Block co-host, Evan Thomas, that turned heads.

“The last six months have been a pretty wild journey,” he began. “Our entire business and lives have been put through the ringer at the hands of a giant corporation, yet we persist lol.”

Bynum continued, “Though you may not be seeing us for much longer on HGTV, we’re excited that we’ve built such an amazing base of followers and we’re very excited about the future. Everyone always told us TV is a fickle world and they are very right. TV is full of a lot of great people but it’s also full of some of the worst people I’ve ever encountered.”

In Bargain Block, Bynum combined his design skills with Thomas’ carpentry knowledge to fix up abandoned properties in Detroit. The show’s axing came amid a wave of HGTV cancellations that also impacted Married to Real Estate, Farmhouse Fixer, Izzy Does It, Christina on the Coast, and The Flipping El Moussas.
