Carrot Top Released From Hospital After Suicide Attempt: Report

Carrot Top has been released from the hospital following a September 18 suicide attempt, according to a new report.

In a People article published on September 25, a source close to the comedian, 61, told the publication (whose real name is Scott Thompson) that he is now at home recovering with his family. The unnamed source also noted that Thompson is “doing well.”

TV Insider reached out to Thompson’s rep, but did not immediately hear back.

The update came one week after Thompson’s suicide attempt at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to a police incident report, per Page Six,  he was found in his backyard near a pool after calling a member of his team while upset. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition after his manager called for a welfare check.

“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs,” Jami Schlicher, Carrot Top’s rep, confirmed to TMZ at the time. “His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”

On September 20, Schlicher told Entertainment Weekly, “He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him.”

The statement continued, “Humor has always been such an important part of who Scott is and how he connects with people, and that remains true today as he shares moments of humor with the medical staff caring for him. Many messages from fans have been shared with Scott, including stories from people about how his comedy helped them through difficult periods in their own lives.”

Carrot Top’s comedy shows for his residency at the Luxor in Las Vegas have since been halted in the wake of his mental health crisis.
