‘Wheel of Fortune’ Changes Format Again One Week Into Season – Fans React

Only one week into the new season, Wheel of Fortune has already changed up the format of the game again. Season 44 kicked off with the new Fortune Frenzy round, but now it seems it is back to the regular format.

The game show used to be one Toss-up, the contestant introductions, another Toss-up, and then into the first puzzle. The first week of WOF changed that completely.

The game started off with the Fortune Frenzy, which was contestants trying to solve as many Toss-ups as they could within 30 seconds. Then, it went into a puzzle. After that, the contestants were introduced, and then the gameplay went on.

But on September 21, the game show seemed to go back to the old format, where it was two toss-ups at the beginning, and the introductions before going back to the puzzles.

“What happened to the Fortune Frenzy?” one Reddit user asked. “I hope we see it again soon.”

“Looks like Fortune Frenzy is taking a week off,” a fan said. Another post shared that the Fortune Frenzy won’t be on the game show the week of the 21st or from October 5 through the 9.

According to the fan who shared the post, the change is not permanent. They filmed these two weeks out of sequence in May, and the format hadn’t changed yet. The Fortune Frenzy should return for good on October 12.

Wheel of Fortune also went back to the wheel that said, “Spin and Win America’s Game.” The new episodes now say “Spin & Win Everybody’s Game.”

“I wish they would return to doing the meet and greet before the first actual spinning puzzle. That is one change that I didn’t care for,” a Reddit user said.

“Same. The show has felt SO short to me and just weird. To change the show up so much has just made me feel less of normalcy,” another wrote.

“Interesting that they still make major changes to the show after the start of the season/when episodes for the new season have already been filmed, they’re really that flexible lol,” one last friend said.

This could also be due to the fact that this week is Words With Friends week, where the crossword puzzles are inspired by the popular mobile game.
