Vanna White can’t get enough of letters. The Wheel of Fortune hostess is collaborating with Words With Friends for a special puzzle on the game show all week.

Kicking off on September 21, on-air Wheel of Fortune contestants will spin to solve a special Words With Friends-style puzzle challenge, while fans at home can play along in the app on a Wheel of Fortune-style puzzle board. Fans can buy a vowel across both screens. 

Each night, the integration will included a Words With Friends puzzle featuring the Crossword category. During the round, the puzzle will be stylized to resemble the Words With Friends game board, with random spaces featuring a Double Letter or Triple Letter space. When a contestant correctly calls a consonant that is placed on one of those spaces, the value of the wedge they land on will be doubled or tripled.

“I’ve been playing Words With Friends for years, between the show and on the go, so this crossover has been fun for me,” White said in a press release. “I can’t wait for the fans to see how it all comes together!”

Fans can play along in the Words With Friends app to win limited-edition in-game rewards. One of the rewards is a Wheel of Fortune tile style available for only six months. The in-game event is now live.

Words With Friends is basically Scrabble meets Wheel of Fortune. Players are given letters, and they must form a word from the letters given. They play against friends, either on their phones or on a desktop computer or a laptop, and try to have the most points by the end of the game.

We’re thrilled to bring these iconic word games together and give players new ways to play along, no matter where they are.”
