Jimmy Kimmel’s Late-Night Show Ending in 2027: Report
What To Know
- A new report claims Jimmy Kimmel Live! may end after its upcoming season in 2027, concluding Kimmel’s 24-year late-night tenure at ABC.
- ABC disputes the report, calling it inaccurate and speculative, while noting Kimmel’s flexible, year-to-year contract arrangements.
Is Jimmy Kimmel‘s late-night run really coming to an end? A new report claims Jimmy Kimmel Live! could wrap after its upcoming season, ending the host’s 24-year run at ABC, but the network is already pushing back.
Page Six reports that Jimmy Kimmel Live! is expected to end after the upcoming season, which would bring Kimmel’s run at ABC to a close in May 2027. According to a source, Kimmel’s contract “is not getting extended.”
However, ABC is pushing back on the report, with a network spokesperson calling the information “inaccurate” and saying any reports about the show’s future are currently “purely speculative.” Kimmel’s recent deals with ABC have been structured on a year-to-year basis, meaning his future with the network has regularly been revisited.
Page Six’s sources suggest the possible move is more about money than Kimmel’s clashes with the Trump administration. The report says new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro would not make the decision for political reasons. Instead, D’Amaro has been looking for ways to cut costs and restructure the company, including offering early-retirement packages to some longtime executives.
The potential ending would come during a period of major upheaval for network late-night TV. Kimmel has hosted the show since 2003, making him one of network TV’s longest-serving late-night hosts, since CBS ended The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this year.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! was briefly suspended by ABC in September 2025 after major affiliate groups preempted the show and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr criticized Kimmel over comments about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. President Donald Trump celebrated the suspension as “Great News for America.” After ABC reinstated Kimmel less than a week later, Trump criticized the decision and renewed his attacks on the network and other late-night hosts.

I don't think anything has been decided from both parties. Ironically, this suspension may have fueled Kimmel to stay on as long as possible. Can't see Kimmel giving Trump bragging rights about he got Jimmy to leave. Jimmy has said he's not sure what he would do when the show is done. I think he'll stay until '28 when Trump is finally gone for good.

Perhaps he can remake The Man Show. That was trash too.
