The third episode of the series gives a glimpse into John-Paul’s past, particularly his father, Reginald Wayne Miller. Reginald has a long history in South Carolina, one filled with legal troubles and shocking accusations. Learn more about Reginald’s past and where he is today.
What happened with Reginald Wayne Miller?
In Death of the Pastor’s Wife, Pam Muise, a pastor who worked alongside John-Paul at one point, revealed details about John-Paul’s relationship with his father. She said that when she began working with John-Paul, he was estranged from his father.
“His dad had already had a number of legal issues and questionable circumstances happen,” she said. “He [John-Paul] expressed that he had been a victim to his father’s passions and own weaknesses.” Pam later claimed, “His father had many outside relationships outside of his marriage, some with men, some with women.”

In 2014, Reginald pleaded guilty to fraud in foreign labor contracting, visa fraud, and wage and hour violations, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. These charges stem from his treatment of international students who came to South Carolina to attend his Cathedral Bible College.
Years earlier, when his ex-wife, Susan Miller, filed for divorce, she said in an affidavit that her “world began slowly crumbling” when wives of two female Bible college students accused Reginald of allegedly making sexual advances toward their husbands, per The Island Post. In the 1980s, a Florence TV station aired a news report in which students claimed Reginald made advances toward them.
In 2006, Reginald was charged with lewdness and prostitution. The Horry County Police Department claimed he “exposed himself” to an undercover male police officer in a bathhouse at Myrtle Beach State Park. The charge was later expunged after he entered a pre-trial intervention program.
Where is Reginald Wayne Miller now?
Reginald was only mentioned briefly in Death of the Pastor’s Wife, and he was not interviewed for the docuseries. Reginald has not spoken publicly about the docuseries as of publication.
The elder Miller’s legal troubles remain. In February 2025, John-Paul was accused of sexually assaulting a woman when she was a minor. The lawsuit alleges John-Paul and his father “engaged in sexual abuse and predatory conduct — often targeting minors. They used their positions of power to manipulate and exploit vulnerable victims while concealing their actions from the public,” per Florence’s WPDE ABC15.
Less than a month later, Reginald and John-Paul denied all accusations in a counterclaim. They claim that the woman’s statements are “slander and libel.”
