Kelly Ripa Shares Glimpse Into Her & Mark Consuelos’ Summer Vacation From ‘Live’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are soaking up the sun during their summer break from Live With Kelly and Mark.

The co-hosts and the crew of their daytime talk show have been on their annual summer hiatus for nearly one month. Episodes since early August have been prerecorded and have featured new conversations between Ripa and Consuelos, along with a mix of old and new celebrity interviews and other segments.

Ripa and Consuelos haven’t offered any major glimpses into their time off via social media. Ripa, however, shared a brief glimpse into the couple’s relaxing summer plans via her Instagram Story on Sunday, August 30.

Set to the song “The Moon and the Sky” by Sade, Ripa shared a picturesque snap of the sun setting over the open ocean. The Instagram Story post didn’t feature a caption, but Ripa tagged her husband’s Instagram profile.

The pair’s daughter, Lola Consuelos, hinted that she could be on vacation with her parents by sharing beach photos of her own via Instagram on August 22. “I’m usually always smiling,” she captioned the snaps, which included snaps of herself sitting alongside a stunning beach view. Ripa hopped in the post’s comments, calling her daughter “so beautiful.” (Ripa and Consuelos share three kids, including sons Michael and Joaquin.)

Ripa and Mark are expected to be back on the small screen with new live episodes of their daytime talk show on Tuesday, September 8, which also marks Live‘s Season 39 premiere. The episode will also mark Ripa’s first official day back in the studio (not prerecorded) since undergoing gum graft surgery last month.

“Her dentist said five years ago, ‘You can do it in about five years.’ And she joked, ‘I didn’t think I’d still be on the air in five years,” Mark joked during the show’s July 27 episode, adding that Ripa was doing well at the time and was not allowed to talk amid her recovery.

“There’s a list of things that you’re not allowed to do — talking, she has to eat soft food, you can’t suck out of a straw,” he detailed. “You can’t examine it, which means pulling down the lip. And so, last night, she’s like, ‘Can you look?’ I’m like, ‘I’m not pulling your lip down.’”

Several celebrities filled in for Ripa before the summer break prerecorded episodes began, including Kevin Jonas, Mila Kunis, Pamela Adlon, Scott Foley, Sarah Chalke, Jenna Dewan, Michelle Buteau, Carrie Coon, and Live‘s emcee, Déjà Vu.

Ripa opened up about her surgery in an episode of her Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast recorded before the procedure. “I was supposed to do it five years ago,” she stated. “But now, just so you know, the doctor was like, ‘Now, you don’t have the luxury of time.’”

She continued, “I brush my teeth too much. It’s a good-bad habit. But I’ve caused gum recession down here specifically, and so they have gotta re-gum my gums.”
