What To Know

  • Nancy Guthrie has been missing since February 1, with no public identification of suspects so far.
  • A YouTuber claims a source told him a plumber worked at Nancy’s home a week before her disappearance.
  • Authorities have not confirmed whether work was taking place at Nancy’s home prior to her abduction.

As the Nancy Guthrie investigation approaches its seven-month mark, with no updates on her whereabouts or potential suspects, a YouTuber who has been following the case has cast suspicion on a plumber allegedly working in the area.

Nancy, the 84-year-old mother of Today’s Savannah Guthrie, went missing on February 1, when police believe she was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home. Investigators have released doorbell camera footage of a masked suspect and sent DNA for testing at the FBI lab in Quantico, but no suspects have been named publicly.

According to YouTube streamer Mark the Shark, who has been covering the case extensively for the past few months, a source told him a plumber was working at Nancy’s house a week before her alleged abduction.

“SOURCE CLAIM: One of my sources stated that a plumber was reportedly working at Nancy Guthrie’s home about a week before her disappearance,” he wrote on X. “Could this be significant?”

Authorities, including the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, have not confirmed any work taking place at Nancy’s home before her alleged kidnapping. However, it is known that a masked suspect was seen outside Nancy’s property on two different occasions.

In addition to the doorbell camera footage, which shows the masked individual on Nancy’s porch tampering with the camera, NewsNation obtained photos of a masked man in the area days before.

Earlier this week, social media users speculated that an Arizona murder suspect could have been the ‘Porch Guy.’ Last Friday (August 21), the Pima County Sheriff’s Department issued an arrest warrant for Alex James Barnett, a 33-year-old man wanted in connection with the murder of Tucson Police Cadet Carlos Ramirez.

Amateur sleuths quickly began comparing Barnett’s wanted photo to images of the Porch Guy, with some suggesting it could be the same person. Barnett was taken into custody after a three-hour standoff at an apartment complex on the east side of Tucson on Monday (August 24).

The PCSD has not suggested any connection between Barnett and the Nancy Guthrie investigation.
