Rosie O’Donnell Thanks ‘Oompa J. Loompa’ Trump for Her TV Comeback

Rosie O’Donnell‘s second night guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! continued her digs at Donald Trump without ever once mentioning him by name, though she did coin a catchy new nickname.

During her opening monologue, the former View co-host sarcastically thanked the president for making her TV comeback possible. “I’m so grateful to be filling in for Jimmy and to be hosting a talk show on network TV once again,” she said. “This has been, kind of, a strange experience for me, because all of a sudden I’m re-famous.”

O’Donnell previously hosted her own show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, for six seasons between 1996 and 2002. The show won several Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show. She also co-hosted The View from 2006 to 2007 and again for a brief run in 2014.

As for her sudden return to the mainstream, O’Donnell quipped, “I’m back in the spotlight all thanks to President Oompa J. Loompa, who is watching us this evening from inside a catering cart.”

The A League of Their Own star was seemingly referencing recent reports that Trump hid in an airport catering truck to covertly switch planes while under threat of assassination from Iran.

“You know, I couldn’t have done it without you, sweetie,” O’Donnell continued. “You brought me back just like you did with fascism and the measles.”

“Enough about him,” she said before going on to talk about other topics. However, she did get one more shot at Trump later in her monologue, calling him “Velveeto Corleone” when discussing the latest drama surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

“We also learned today that the United States could be acquiring some new land soon,” she stated. “Velveeto Corleone was up bright and early at 7 am this morning to post an image of a map listing the Strait of Hormuz as a U.S. territory, which makes literally no sense. I’ll put it this way… if the U.S. is in charge of the Strait, then I’m also straight. And let’s face it, I’m not. The moronathon continues.”

The feud between O’Donnell and Trump has been going on for years. Last year, the Emmy-winning talk show host told the Irish network RTÉ’s The Late Late Show that the president has “had it out” for her for 20 years after she “told the truth about him on a program called The View.”

Last year, Trump ranted against O’Donnell on social media and threatened to take away her U.S. citizenship. He continued his attacks earlier this month, posting an AI video of himself as a doctor treating her for “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
