After Grey’s Anatomy set photos for Season 23 were revealed, some fans spotted a key detail to the costuming.
Here’s why some fans think the series might be filming a certain wedding scene.

The latest on-set images from Grey’s Anatomy Season 23 have some fans wondering if we might be seeing a certain wedding march take place much sooner than expected.

After ABC’s official social media accounts shared a batch of new cast photos from the set, fans noticed something interesting about what key cast members were wearing in the shots: semi-formal attire. Specifically, the pictures of Chandra Wilson with Jason George, along with that of Adelaide Kane and Winston Ndugu together, show the characters, who are each coupled up on screen, dressed in attire that could easily be suitable for a nuptial ceremony.

Could Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) say “I do” at the start of Season 23?

Though the background of both pics is clearly the hospital set, Grey’s has certainly seen matrimonial action move to Grey Sloan Memorial in the past. So that doesn’t rule it out.

Plus, there are some scheduling considerations that could make an early-season wedding scene make sense: Ellen Pompeo is set to film the pilot for her new hopeful series, Chicks, next month in New York, and Scott Speedman’s other ABC hit, R.J. Decker, has moved to the fall schedule for Season 2, so chances are, he’ll be rather tied up with that in production (though he was able to do double duty in Season 22 during Decker‘s first season).

Storywise, it would also make sense. Meredith has never been a bridezilla in the making — remember the Post-It wedding and subsequent courthouse union with Derek (Patrick Dempsey)? So, it stands to reason that she wouldn’t be likely to prolong the big day and make a big fuss about it, even if she did make the grand gesture of an unexpected proposal in the Season 22 finale.
