‘The Artful Dodger’ Stars Tease Start of Season 3 Filming in Australia: Everything We Know So Far

The Artful Dodger‘s third and final chapter is coming together at Hulu and Disney+ after it was announced that the drama had been renewed following Season 2, which dropped earlier this year.

While hope for the Season 3 renewal was hinted at on social media before it was officially announced in August, the news came much sooner than Season 2’s did after Season 1, which took about a year between its 2023 arrival and 2024 greenlight. And the latest reveal hints that fans may get episodes quite soon as filming gets underway in Australia. As we await additional news about The Artful Dodger‘s Season 3 return, we’re breaking down everything we know so far, including who is likely to return and where the story could lead.

Has The Artful Dodger been renewed for Season 3?

The Artful Dodger has officially been renewed for a third and final season, as Deadline announced the show’s pickup for a final chapter. The reveal came just hours after Disney+ Australia’s Instagram account hinted at the possibility with a fun set of images featuring the cast with the caption, “Me waiting patiently for the season 3 announcement.” The post even drew a comment from star Maia Mitchell, who plays Lady Belle, which read, “Very cheeky.”

Who stars in The Artful Dodger Season 3?

The Artful Dodger Season 3 will see the return of the leading trio of stars, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, David Thewlis, and Maia Mitchell, who will reprise their respective roles as Jack Dawkins, Fagin, and Lady Belle Fox. Additionally, we anticipate seeing other returning stars onscreen, but stay tuned for more casting info about The Artful Dodger Season 3.

What would The Artful Dodger Season 3 be about?

As fans will recall, Season 2 of The Artful Dodger concluded with skilled surgeons Jack and Lady Belle reuniting on the docks of Port Victory after he didn’t go through with fleeing to rejoin the Navy. Meanwhile, Fagin had woken up six feet under after Dawkins administered an injection that helped him evade authorities by appearing dead, allowing him to skirt responsibility for his criminal schemes. While it’s too early to know where the Charles Dickens adaptation would take viewers in Season 3 without a logline, we’d imagine those endings would serve as a launching point for what’s to come.

What has been said about The Artful Dodger Season 3?

The Artful Dodger‘s third season may not have been confirmed when Season 2 ended, but when TV Insider asked the stars about their hopes for the show’s future, Mitchell said of Lady Belle and Jack, “I think they are star-crossed lovers, I think they’re destined to be together, and I honestly don’t think that anything… could stop them from being together. I think it definitely does open the door for a Season 3, which we would all love.”

As for what she’d like to see in Season 3, Mitchell added, “Now that we’ve kind of cracked open the tension between the family and seen this new kind of authenticity and respect and openness, I would love to see that play out. And I would love to see what it looks like for Belle and Jack to be living together and trying to be domestic.”
