Scott Foley has had a rough run of it lately, but on Friday (July 31), things looked up for the actor. Foley appeared as a guest host, alongside Mark Consuelos, for Live With Kelly and Mark.
He was filling in for Kelly Ripa, who is expected to be out of commission for several weeks after undergoing painful gum graft surgery. Foley is the latest guest host to sub in for Ripa; others have so far included Kevin Jonas and Mila Kunis.
The gig comes after a series of setbacks for Foley. His beloved Will Trent character, Dr. Seth McDale, was abruptly killed off in the Season 4 finale of the crime drama, which was a huge blow to his on-screen wife, Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen), and fans alike … to the point that some even want the show to retcon him back into the picture. Then, over the summer, Prime Video decided not to move forward with a second season of his promising new romantic drama series, It’s Not Like That.
In a video reaction shared with fans, even Foley seemed stunned by the latter slight. He said witha shrug, “Well, after six or so weeks trending in the Top 10 and getting as high as like three or four, really great reviews — I think we have like 100% on Rotten Tomatoes — our little show called It’s Not Like That has been canceled at Amazon Prime… I think I’m just … I’m disappointed, obviously, but I’m so grateful for the chance.”
Now, we have to wonder if Foley isn’t considering a change of pace and eyeing the daytime circuit as a potential next step. He certainly held his own with the day’s interview guests, Andrew Garfield and Max Greenfield, and he seemed to relish the new opportunity during his interviews. Plus, he was all smiles in the show’s behind-the-scenes pictures.
