Jimmy Kimmel is enjoying his summer break from hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! and has tapped several celebrity guest hosts to take his place behind the desk. For the week of July 19, Colman Domingo served as the late-night host, and he drew in higher ratings than Kimmel’s NBC counterpart, Jimmy Fallon.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1.574 million total viewers and 203,000 adults in the 18-49 demo with Domingo at the helm. Meanwhile, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon brought in an average of 1.42 million total viewers and 168,000 in the adults demo.
Compared to the previous week, where Ike Barinholtz hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the gap between the two shows increased from 123,000 to 154,000 total viewers, and 3,000 to 35,000 demo viewers. Kimmel’s show’s total viewer average was the same as the previous week, but it saw a 23% increase in demo viewers with Domingo hosting. Fallon dipped 2% in total viewers and gained 4% in key demo viewers compared to the week prior.

Following the end of Stephen Colbert‘s show on CBS, Byron Allen has taken over the late-night slots. His two shows aired repeats for the week of July 19. I was surprised at how boring Colman Domingo's hosting nights were. Not sure if it's the writers or what.
