Is ‘The Vampire Lestat’ Renewed? AMC Boss Gives Hopeful Update

The Vampire Lestat is already more than halfway done airing its episodes. With the finale on the horizon, an AMC executive has shared new details about the network’s plans for the future of the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. While The Vampire Lestat hasn’t officially been renewed as of the time of publication, the AMC boss’ comments hint that the network intends to make more seasons.

Interview With the Vampire got a rebrand for Season 3 to denote the big tonal and stylistic changes in this adaptation of Rice’s second book in The Vampire Chronicles. The first book is narrated by Louis (played by Jacob Anderson in the series), and the second by Lestat (Sam Reid in the show). Their different psyches called for different styles of storytelling. Where Louis’ was a heady, meticulous slow burn leading to an explosive finale, Lestat’s story is frenetic and nonlinear, matching the vampire’s chaotic persona. The way Louis and Lestat individually think is expressed in how the seasons are written and edited.

Dan McDermott’s new comments imply that more title changes are in store moving forward, should the show be renewed. Here’s what we know about The Vampire Lestat‘s future.

Is The Vampire Lestat renewed?

As of the time of publication, no. However, a renewal seems imminent based on a new interview from AMC’s chief content officer and president of AMC Studios, Dan McDermott.

McDermott told The Ankler that the big swing with the Season 3 rebrand has been successful for AMC’s streaming service, AMC+.

“On our streaming platform, we had a 30-day estimate for the show in terms of how it would perform, and it exceeded the 30-day estimate in seven days, and it has now doubled the 30-day estimate in the first 20 days,” he said. “To say it’s significantly over-performing for us would be accurate.”

That’s a very positive sign that Interview With the Vampire Season 4 will happen, but McDermott said they’re already in talks for more seasons. He confirmed that the show could rebrand again with another new name and noted that they’re interested in at least two more seasons of Interview. Showrunner Rolin Jones has said in the past that he envisioned about five to seven seasons for the series.

“The natural next books in the cycle that could continue the story would be The Queen of the Damned and The Tale of the Body Thief,” McDermott shared. “We’re discussing right now if that is something that we want to do. We’re also looking at all the books in the canon and figuring out how to continue the Louis, Lestat, Molloy [Eric Bogosian], and Armand [Assad Zaman] story for another two seasons at least.”

Will Interview With the Vampire change its name again after The Vampire Lestat?

There are 13 books in Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. Immortal Universe executive producer Mark Johnson kept his answer playfully vague when TV Insider asked him about another name change ahead of The Vampire Lestat premiere.

“Not necessarily. I think we’ll take each one as it goes,” he said in Backstage Pass: The Vampire Lestat Aftershow, adding, “We’re drawing from a number of them, not just one or two at the same time, so I’m not sure. We’re hoping there will be a Season 4, and I have no idea at this point what it will be called.”

Interview With the Vampire pulled some book details from The Vampire Lestat, The Queen of the Damned, The Tale of the Body Thief, and Merrick in Seasons 1 and 2. Those details are worked into The Vampire Lestat, in addition to things from The Vampire Armand. McDermott gave an update on the Memnoch the Devil script that AMC ordered a while back in this interview.

“It’s still in the works. We got a script in two years ago that we think is terrific,” he said. “We launched Talamasca: The Secret Order at that time and were looking at, ‘How many shows in the canon can we support at one given time? How much is enough? How much is too much?’ And we decided Memnoch is one that we may do. Let’s keep it on the back burner here, and we’ll make a decision on it when we feel like we need to move and pivot to a new show.”

Once upon a time, there was a digital series called Night Island in the works for the Immortal Universe. It was announced in 2023, and then it was rarely mentioned again until June 2026, when Johnson told Nerdist that “we’re getting closer” to it becoming a reality. He shared no details beyond that.

Talamasca was canceled after one season in March 2026, marking the first canceled show in the Immortal Universe. Mayfair Witches Season 3 will be the next release in this franchise after The Vampire Lestat ends on July 19.

To see this brilliant show run at least two more seasons would be wonderful. Sam and Jacob are very talented and terrific, the show exquisite in it's details and staging, so many clues in the background. The rest of the cast are equally as good. Long may it continue. A CD of the music and a DVD of a full Lestat concert of the songs would be much appreciated for purchase, available round the world on all systems.

This sounds very promising indeed! <3 Really feels like IwtV/TVL needs at least The Queen of thr Damned in its storyline to wrap up nicely, and The Tale of The Body Thief would be a nice bonus, which I really hope they get to do their version of since they've introduced Raglan James so very entertainingly. <3 Really curious to see what they might do with Memnoch too! I get the vibe it's going to be kinda disconnected from the main vampire series...? Interesting, either way! I hope AMC+ gets to play around a lot more in this universe. <3

Will the Vampire Lestat get another cycle or will it be a title change? That's my question. The should at least do Queen of the Damned, as it was part of the original trilogy. Louis' and Armand's injuries shown during the Vampire Lestat's first episode I assume were part of the Queen's awakening and her destroying vampires in her path.
